First in-service Clinical Scientist registered with HCPC following Academy Equivalence

Cardiac Scientist Brian Campbell has become the first in-service Healthcare Scientist to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, following successful completion of the Academy’s Equivalence process.

Respiratory scientist Joanna Shakespeare and Gastrointestinal scientist Lynne Smith joined Brian on the HCPC register having successfully completed the Clinical Scientist Equivalence process in the December 2013 wave of assessments.

Brian was congratulated on his achievements by Academy Board Member John Stevens and CEO Janet Monkman. Brian was delighted by the result. He said: “This has opened up a route that wasn’t available to Cardiac Science before.  When you speak to people, they’re surprised this hasn’t been available already. I’m very proud of this and want to be able to support the process for others to come through.” Kerry Tinkler, Director of Professional Services for AHCS, echoed these sentiments: “I congratulate Brian, Joanne and Lynne on this fantastic achievement.  This marks a key milestone in the Academy’s work on regulation for public protection and safety of users of health services”.

AHCS will shortly be concluding the early implementers series of Equivalence Interview Assessments and will open the Equivalence process  for open applications shortly.
