Next wave of early implementers start STP equivalence process

The Academy is taking forward the STP equivalence work with prospective Clinical Scientists from across  Cardiac Science, Respiratory Science, GI Physiology, Vascular Science and Urodynamic Science.

This group have now started to gather together the breadth of information to go into their portfolios of evidence. They have been sent details of the equivalence quality framework, including the specialism-specific portfolio example evidence and guidance to guide them through the process including evidence collection. We have structured the process to gain feedback and make any improvements as we go along.

The team assessing the applicants for equivalence will comprise nine AHCS professional assessors and four lay assessors working alongside three ACS assessors. They will carry out portfolio review and face-to-face assessments.

The Joint Assessment Unit

Following the agreement of a Memorandum of  Understanding between the Academy and the  Association of Clinical Scientists Board, we have brought together a joint assessment unit. This will signpost the correct route to regulation for people wishing to become Clinical Scientists, depending on their background and training.
