The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) have opened a survey on proposed changes to the requirements used for including mandatory qualification (that is, a qualification that must be completed by an apprentice as part of their apprenticeship).

Healthcare science apprenticeship standards currently have a mandated qualification at diploma and degree level. The purpose of such mandated qualifications in an apprenticeship is to provide consistency in the knowledge, skills and behaviours taught and the training received as a whole. Thereby contributing to patient safety.
