'Scaling the Heights' HSST document published by Health Education England

The document setting out how Higher Specialist Scientist Training will operate for Healthcare Science – ‘Scaling the Heights’ –  has been published by Health Education England

Scaling the Heights: an overview of Higher Specialist Science Training (HSST) in Healthcare Science sets out the policy for  the Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme, demonstrating how HSST  will deliver the Consultant Clinical Scientists required by health and care services. This includes the role of the Academy of Healthcare Science in providing:

• Certificates of Attainment for individuals completing HSST
• Operating the Register for  Consultant Clinical Scientists
• Recognising prior education, training and experience through the Equivalence process

Scaling the Heights sets out all the elements HSST including: the underpinning academic doctoral programme; the development of curricula with scientists, professional bodies and medical royal colleges and the roles of the National School for Healthcare Science in implementing the programmes.
