New STP Equivalence Application Template now available for the AHCS Equivalence Application Process

We are pleased to announce the release of the new application template to guide and support those applying for STP Equivalence against the programme outcomes of the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) accredited Scientist Training Programme (STP). The AHCS STP Certificate of Equivalence is the approved education programme enabling successful applicants to apply to join the Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) statutory register as a Clinical Scientist.

This template is for those applicants who are wanting to apply from the upcoming applications equivalence application start date in 2025 (TBA), however those applicants currently going through the process, may also find it a useful resource.

This template is designed to streamline the application process, providing clear guidance on structuring the portfolio, ensuring that the evidence provided meets the Standards of Good Scientific Practice and helps to ensure that all the required information is included. Please note that the process no longer features a GSP mapping template.

The new application template, developed by AHCS Education, Training and Standards Committee, will help applicants present their qualifications, experience and competencies effectively, making the review process more efficient. Whether you are just starting your application or refining your submission, this resource aims to provide additional clarity and support.

You can view the new template on the Equivalence Guidance Page and further information regarding Equivalence via the Equivalence Page.

If you have any queries regarding the new template, please contact Lynne Smith, .
