Healthcare Scientist elected as new MP for Heywood & Middleton

Congratulations to go to  healthcare scientist Liz McInnes who has just been elected to be the new MP for Heywood and Middleton, Greater Manchester.

Labour MP Liz is a senior Biochemist, who has worked as a Clinical Scientist at Pennine Acute NHS Trust. She is been active in the trades union movement,and has served on the national Healthcare Science Committee for Unite the Union.

Liz keeps up Heywood and Middleton’s proud tradition of Healthcare Science MPs as her predecessor, the late Jim Dobbin MP, was an NHS microbiologist for 33 years before becoming a parliamentarian.
