HEIW share call for evidence for education strategy
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is inviting stakeholders to help them develop their comprehensive strategy including, but not limited to, learners, educators, employers, education providers, statutory organisations and policy experts. With this in mind, HEIW are launching a formal call for evidence to ensure that their education strategy is informed by diverse perspectives.
Key Areas of Focus
To frame the discussion, HEIW have identified areas where evidence and input will be particularly valuable including:
- Educational quality
- Curriculum and pedagogy
- Inclusion and equitable access
- Technology in education
- Supporting educators.
How to participate
HEIW invite you to submit evidence to HEIW.EducationStrategy@wales.nhs.uk in the following formats:
- Written Submissions: Share your insights, ideas, and research findings in a written document. You can respond to all or some of the key areas listed above. If you are responding on behalf of an organisation and are happy to be identified, then please indicate this on your submission. If you are responding as an individual, you do not need to provide your contact details but if you do so, HEIW will not publish individual responses.
- Case Studies: You can provide examples of successful programmes, policies, or initiatives that could serve as models for wider implementation.
- Data and Statistics: Submit quantitative evidence highlighting trends, challenges and opportunities that are relevant to the education strategy.
- Testimonies: Share personal experiences or observations on what works and what needs improvement. If you are responding individually as a learner or a healthcare employee, anything HEIW publish will be anonymised and non-identifiable.
Please send information to HEIW.EducationStrategy@wales.nhs.uk.
Engagement events
In addition to written submissions, HEIW are planning to host a series of engagement events to facilitate dialogue. These will include face to face and online opportunities
- Workshops: Online/Interactive sessions focused on specific themes (these will be organised following the face to face event and will take place later in 2025/early 2026)
- Roundtable Discussions: Small-group conversations aimed at fostering in-depth exploration of key issues – Autumn 2025
- Face to Face – Deliberative Event – this will be held in South Wales in the early Spring 2026. The event will focus on developing our future vision for healthcare education in Wales
Further details will be published on the HEIW dedicated webpage in due course.
