AHCS Welcomes Clinical Exercise Physiology UK to the Professional Bodies Council

CASES and CEP-UK become a member of the Academy for Healthcare Science Professional Bodies Council

We are pleased to announce that Clinical Exercise Physiology UK (CEP-UK), an Advisory Group of CASES (The Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Science), has been accepted as a new member of the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) Professional Bodies Council.

The AHCS Professional Bodies Council was established as the senior council to provide a high-level strategic discussion forum on healthcare policy, scientific leadership and horizon-scanning of issues that may affect the whole of the Healthcare Science workforce.

Professor Chris Hopkins, President of the Academy for Healthcare Science and Chair of the Professional Bodies Council, said:

“I am delighted to welcome CEP-UK to the Academy for Healthcare Science Professional Bodies Council. Clinical Exercise Physiologists are highly skilled, university-qualified health professionals whose expertise in the prescription and delivery of evidence-based exercise interventions plays an increasingly important role in the prevention, treatment and long-term management of acute, chronic and complex conditions. Their inclusion within the Council strengthens our collective scientific leadership and ensures that this emerging and impactful profession is represented at the highest strategic level as we shape the future healthcare science workforce across the UK.”

Commenting on the recent news, Prof Helen Jones, Chair of the CEP-UK Advisory Group, said,

“By becoming a member, CASES, through CEP-UK, will be able to contribute directly to national discussions on healthcare science workforce development, professional standards and policy, while ensuring that the voice, expertise and emerging role of Clinical Exercise Physiologists are represented at a strategic level across the UK health system”.
