Advancing Healthcare Awards Cymru 2025

The Advancing Healthcare Awards Cymru 2025 took place on 14th November 2025 in Cardiff, celebrating outstanding achievements of Healthcare Scientists, AHPs and those who work alongside them across Wales. We are honoured to say that AHCS President, Professor Chris Hopkins, hosted this event alongside Kerrie Phipps, National AHP Lead for Primary and Community Care.

The event celebrated a multitude of winners (pictured below), from a wide range of specialisms, showcasing the vast diversity of excellence within Wales. The overall winner was “Monica Martins, Clinical Team Lead in Nuclear Medicine, and the Bone Densitometry (DXA) Non-Medical Reporting Team, Swansea Bay University, Health Board  Building Capacity and Consistency for Developing a Non-Medical Bone Densitometry (DXA) Reporting Workforce”. The judges chose this as the overall winner as the team are making a significant impact on all levels, understand the importance of partnership working and share learning and are “are empowering AHPs and Healthcare Scientists through structured, supported frameworks to improve diagnostic capacity, career growth, and patient-centred care.”

“It was fantastic to be with colleagues from across Wales for this year’s Advancing Healthcare Awards Cymru 2025 in Cardiff. The event once again showcased the very best of our healthcare science community, highlighting the impact, dedication, and innovation that drive improvements in health and wellbeing across the nation. This year, I had the honour of hosting the awards alongside my wonderful colleague Kerrie Phipps, and we were delighted to be joined by Professor Tony Fisher, one of our esteemed Non-Executive colleagues within the Academy.

Congratulations to all nominees, those shortlisted, and of course the winners of this year’s awards. I continue to be inspired by the innovative work taking place across Wales and the outstanding contributions of our healthcare scientists, who are pushing boundaries, advancing practice, and improving outcomes for patients and communities every day.”
