Record Recruitment And Reform To Boost Patient Care Under First NHS Long Term Workforce Plan

Record numbers of doctors, nurses, dentists and other healthcare staff will be trained in England as part of the first ever Long Term Workforce Plan published by the NHS and backed by the Government today.

“The Academy for Healthcare Science welcomes this positive first step in aiming to improve not only the support and retention of our existing Healthcare Scientists within the NHS, but also the education and training reforms for those developing their careers.

The opportunity to grow the workforce is a critical issue at this time, and highlighting changes to this with government backing is something we fully support.

We are excited to see the impact this plan will have and keep the conversation going to ensure that Healthcare Scientists within the NHS receive the support, training and growth they need.

We will need all acute trusts, ICBs and ICSs to have healthcare scientist input with a voice at the highest level to ensure delivery of this plan is successful.”

Prof. Brendan Cooper – President AHCS
