‘Safer care for all – Solutions from professional regulation and beyond’ – a PSA report

The publication of the Professional Standards Authority’s ‘Safer care for all – Solutions from professional regulation and beyond’ report, is released today.

It stresses that 4 Governments across the UK must develop a coherent approach to workforce Regulation, and as part of that, there is a possibility of a coherent workforce strategy.

Regulation helps to support the delivery of national workforce

Regulation keeps the public safe

Regulation through registration facilitates the continuous development of individuals

Now more than ever our health and social care workforce need to be supported.  The 4 Country Governments must recognise the value of accredited registers and regulation as a catalyst to grow and inspire the workforce, reassure patients, public and service users about their care, wherever they receive that care

The report covers a range of proposals and celebrates the work of PSA in the 20 years of operation, but ultimately the drive is to be really clear that regulation for the health and social care workforce across the UK, is the direction of travel, Govts need to get behind it.
