The Healthcare Science Programme in Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is running a Spotlight (Drop-In) Session for Consultant Clinical Scientists in NHS Wales. The session is open to anyone who is interested in attending, not just from within the NHS in Wales, but across the whole of the UK. This session will provide the opportunity to meet a number of Consultant Clinical Scientists and Healthcare Science Leads and to ask questions about the Consultant Clinical Scientists Recommendations in NHS Wales. In addition to this, you can also find out more about the roles of Consultant Clinical Scientists in NHS Wales.
Background
The Consultant Clinical Scientist in NHS Wales Recommendations were published in June 2022. The recommendations provide information and guidance about the role, recruitment, and education, training and attainment requirements for Consultant Clinical Scientists across NHS Wales, to facilitate the development of healthcare science services where Consultant Clinical Scientists can play a key leadership role in multi-professional service provision and transformation.
The Recommendations also provide guidance to employing organisations in order to support implementation. This contributes towards the ambition in A Healthier Wales: Our Workforce Strategy for Health and Social Care to have a workforce with the capacity, competence and confidence to meet the needs of the people of Wales. To support this, a “Consultant Clinical Scientists in NHS Wales Implementation Plan” was developed alongside “Frequently Asked Questions”. A number of other resources including videos and podcasts on our YouTube Playlist will be developed over the coming months to support this further.
