Advanced Practice Virtual Conference 2020
This year, for the very first time, Health Education England’s national conference for advanced practitioners is being held online as a virtual event on Monday 9 November and Thursday 12 November 2020.
The annual free to attend collaborative event brings together practitioners, educators, employers and researchers from across the country to share best practice, collaborate, network and to hear the latest news about how advanced practice is helping to deliver the national healthcare agenda.
Featuring a mixture of live, pre-recorded and in interactive sessions available on-demand, attendees will also have more flexibility to fit around their availability, as well as saving time and resources on travel and accommodation.
Proposed conference schedule
- Monday 9 November – Welcome and introduction, and keynotes (9 am – 11 am), on-demand workshops open from 11 am
- Thursday 12 November – Introductions, workshop feedback, regional sessions (10.30m – 1.30 pm)
Conference objectives
- Informing and updating the advanced practice community and stakeholders on current hot topics
The strategic direction of the work form NHSE/I and how the programme will support the delivery of the Long-Term NHS Plan.
Update on the Centre for Advancing Practice, progress with programme accreditation, the independent portfolio route for existing Advanced Practitioners and the Directory of Advanced Practitioners.
- Co-production of key workstreams
Delegates will be invited to collaborate on developing key workstreams including Credentials, CPD, Supervision, AP and Covid
- To provide an opportunity to showcase research and projects through poster presentations
Call for abstract submissions are open and shortlisted abstract authors will be invited to showcase research poster at the conference – see below.

Research poster competition – call for abstract submissions
Advanced practice trainees and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentations relating to all areas of advanced practice research – submit here. Awards will be made to the highest quality poster in two categories – academic and community.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 12 noon on Wednesday 23 September 2020.
