AHCS formally recognised as the External Quality Assurance provider by the Institute for Apprenticeships

The AHCS is delighted to announce that it has been formally recognised by the Institute for Apprenticeships as the External Quality Assurance provider for the three published healthcare science apprenticeship standards:  Healthcare Science Assistant, Healthcare Science Associate, and Healthcare Science Practitioner (for non-integrated programmes).

External Quality Assurance (EQA) aims to ensure that End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) all work to a high standard and that an apprentice would get the same result from their EPA regardless of the EPAO overseeing it.  It  also ensures that the assessment is fair, consistent and robust across different apprenticeship standards and between different assessment organisations. EQA also contributes to the assessment of whether the apprenticeship standard and end-point assessment plan are fit-for-purpose and delivering the outcomes that are required.

We are in the process of finalising the operational details of the external quality assurance process and will be working with the End Point Assessment Organisations to establish the timeline for External Quality Assurance activity.
