Vascular Scientists join the Academy’s new Clinical Physiology Register

On 22nd September 2017 the Academy announced that the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) had formally approved extension of the AHCS Accredited Register to include a Register for Clinical Physiologists.

The new Register is proving popular, with 128 vascular scientists joining it in November and more joining it shortly.

Helen Dixon, Past President of the Society for Vascular Technology of Great Britain and Ireland

has welcomed this development:

‘The Society for Vascular Technology of Great Britain and Ireland (SVTGBI) are delighted that members who have been through the Society’s own accreditation scheme are now eligible to be included on the Clinical Physiology part of the AHCS Accredited Register and that 128 of our members have already been added.  This supports the Society’s own aims of maintaining high standards in our profession and recognises the level of training, education and continued professional development required by the SVT to obtain and maintain AVS (accredited vascular scientist status).’

The new President of the SVT, Sara Causley, recommends that vascular scientists who are interested in registration should contact either:

president@svtgbi.org.uk or the SVTGBI membership address: membership@svtgbi.org.uk.

If you have any queries over your AVS status, please email: cpd.avs@svtgbi.org.uk

Other Clinical Physiologists who would like to apply to join the Academy’s register for Clinical Physiology can now do so by clicking here. Alternatively, please email   for further information.
