Promoting professionalism, reforming regulation

The Academy is inviting comments from its internal and external stakeholders to the recently published consultation by Department of Health, which seeks views on what is needed to protect the public as much as possible and at the same time support the development of the workforce.

The proposed model of professional regulation will:

• secure public trust
• improve clinical practice
• adapt to developments in healthcare

This consultation is part of the commitment to reform the system of regulation of healthcare professions.  The responses will allow the government to consider future options for the development of regulation of healthcare professionals in the UK.
