What are we consulting on?
One of the key objectives of the Academy for Healthcare Science Regulation Council is to provide protection and assurance to the public. We operate an Accredited register for the Healthcare Science workforce not covered by statutory regulation. We are now developing a new part of the register for Medical Illustrators. We have worked in partnership with the Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Illustration Practitioners () to develop this work. The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on the draft Standards to ensure they provide appropriate protection for the public and will be clear and effective in their operation.
In developing the Medical Illustrators Standards of Proficiency, standards ofand the standards of Conduct, and the Academy identified the risks posed by Medical Illustrators and the form of standards that might mitigate those risks. We also ensured the standards are consistent in language and format with the Academy’s Practitioner and Higher Specialist Scientist Standards.
How can you have your say?
This consultation runs from 15 July 2016 and will close at 5pm on the 14th August. The best way to respond to the consultation is by completing our online questionnaire. Other ways to respond are set out in the Consultation Document.
What happens next?
We will analyse the responses we receive. We will then publish a report on our website which summarises the comments we received and explains the decisions we have taken as a result. We will then submit a notification of change to the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. We will do this once we are confident we have a regulation framework that is fit for purpose for the Medical Illustration workforce. We will keep you informed of progress as the project develops via the website and VOX.
