With the Equivalence processes up and running, The Academy is currently assessing the level of demand for Equivalence at Scientist Training Programme level.

Last call for the AHCS Practitoner Register consultation event
The Academy is holding an open consultation event around the proposed Standards for the Register of Healthcare Science Practitioners in London on 19 Feb 2014. Please respond by 4 Feb if you wish to attend.

Update on PSQIP project, and presentations from the stakeholder event
The Physical Sciences and Engineering Quality Improvement Project was formally launched at a stakeholder event on 9 January 2014 which brought together the AHCS, IPEM and speakers from the Royal College of Physicians and the UK Accreditation Service.

HEE publishes ‘Scaling the Heights’ document – setting out Higher Specialist Scientist Training
Health Education England have published the document setting out how Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) will operate for Healthcare Science, including setting out the 19 specialisms which will have curricula from April 2014.
Scaling the Heights: An overview of Higher Specialist Training in Healthcare Science describes the HSST programme will work, including the role of the Academy around HSST certification, registration and equivalence.
Pathology Quality Assurance Review report published
The independent Pathology Quality Assurance Review, has published its reportmaking 8 recommendations, including the setting up of a new Oversight Group on pathology quality assurance to be led by NHS England. The report is supported by NHS England, the Chief Scientific Officer, Health Education England, the National Clinical Director for pathology together with the Royal College of Pathologists and the United Kingdom Accreditation service.
Hold the date for #LTO14 – the CSO Leadership Event
The Office of the Chief Scientific Officer has announced that it will be holding #LTO14 (Leading and Transforming Outocmes) – its national Healthcare Science leadership event – on 31 March and 1 April 2014 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, central London. We will share more details as soon as they are available.
