STP Bioinformatics course approved by HCPC
The Academy for Healthcare Science has received ongoing approval from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for the Certificate of Attainment and Certificate of Equivalence with respect to the Scientist Training Programme (STP) in Clinical Bioinformatics.
The Academy has received this approval in its role as Approved Education Provider for the STP. This approval provides a route to registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist for people completing the Clinical Bioinformatics STP
Trainees entering the Clinical Bioinformatics STP from September 2015 will, on successful completion of the programme, will be eligible for the award of the AHCS Certificate of Attainment and eligible to apply to the HCPC for registration as a Clinical Scientist.
Trainees who started the Clinical Bioinformatics STP in 2013 and 2014 will be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Equivalence, following the same process within Academy that we have used with other prior intakes of STP, i.e. they will need to give permission for the Academy to review their portfolio content. When issued with a Certificate of Equivalence, these trainees will be eligible to apply to the HCPC for registration as a Clinical Scientist.
