The qualifications – BTEC Level 2 Certificate Introduction to Healthcare Science, and BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare Science – have been developed by Pearson using core training modules developed as part of the Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) programme. The qualifications, which have been approved by Ofqual and published on the Ofqual register, will be available for training providers registered by Pearsons as an approved centre to deliver the new qualifications.

The stand-alone qualifications provide an introduction to those who may be interested in developing a career in Healthcare Science. They also provide the mandatory  core of education and training programmes for  levels 2 and 4 of the MSC Career Framework.  The level 2 programme is also a prerequisite for level 3. Additionally, the MSC programmes will require the mandatory completion of the Personal, Cognitive and Professional Skills Framework (PCPSF), currently under development.

Those who  complete the introductory qualifications will have the opportunity to progress to the relevant knowledge-based and workforce-based components of MSC Career Framework 2-4.
