HEE launch clinical academic careers programme with ICAP internships
Health Education England have launched their programme to support healthcare staff to develop joint clinical and academic careers with Integrated Clinical Academic Programme (ICAP) internships.
Internships are the first level of the clinical academic careers framework, and offer a great introduction to all aspects and roles across clinical academic research from trial design, data management through to undertaking practical research in a clinical environment. These have been developed and will be delivered locally within HEE by our local teams based on national criteria.

The internships are the first step in HEE’s commitment to deliver Clinical Academic Careers as part of their Research and Innovation Strategy. HEE is now looking to engage English universities to deliver Clinical Research Masters for graduates who have at least one year of clinical experience.
