iCEPSS (Improving Clinical Engineering and Physical Science Services) is a programme to improve the quality of Clinical Engineering and Physical Science Services, developed jointly by the Academy for Healthcare Science with input from professional groups under the leadership of IPEM (the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine).

Draft standards have been developed by a group led by IPEM, drawing on previous work undertaken with IQIPS (Physiological Sciences) and ISAS (Imaging services).

We are now holding a three month consultation on the proposed standards. The iCEPSS team have written to stakeholders inviting them to take part.

Responding to the consultation

The best way to respond to the consultation is via the online survey form at www.ahcs.ac.uk/iCEPSSsurvey

While we have set out some consultation questions which you may wish to address, we are happy to address any other comments you would like to make in another format. The consultation questions are also set out in the iCEPPS Consultation Document, that can be downloaded, printed out and returned to the iCEPSS team:

Dr Peter Jarritt, iCEPSS Project Lead
Academy for Healthcare Science
180 King’s Cross Rd, London WC1X 9DE

Email: iCEPSS@ahcs.ac.uk

The consultation will be run for 12 weeks and will close at 4:00pm on Friday 14 November.

Next Steps – recruitment of Pilot Sites

The Standards will be piloted in two phases. The first phase will be a desktop exercise to validate the key performance indicators in a range of service configurations. The second phase will require the completion of a full accreditation assessment cycle by an independent accreditation body. The initial desktop exercise will be launched in November with the second phase planned for early 2015.

Participation in these pilot schemes will be free of charge. Expressions of interest from departments within the UK are welcome. If you would like to take part please send your details to Peter Jarritt as Project Lead at iCEPSS@ahcs.ac.uk including a short statement of the range and scope of services that would be assessed.
